Well, right off the bat I'm thinking of "The Gin Game". I saw it on PBS with Hugh Cronyn and Jessica Tandy a long time ago, and I still think about it now and then.
I'm thinking of "Our Town" which I remember from High School. Also the musical "Anne of Green Gables" - an old favourite.
Ah! Great. I haven't actually heard of those plays - except for Anne of Green Gables of course - but need some new ones to study, so they are going on my list.
I'm going to add the links here and then go and look into the plays suggested:
The Gin Game, D.L Couburn
Our Town, Thornton Wilder
Anne of Green Gables: The Musical
Some of my favouries are:
Lady Windermere's Fan, Oscar Wilde
The Little Clay Cart, King Shudraka (pictures here)
Translations, Brian Friel
And then there's Shakespeare!
Hopefully, from this list I will choose a play to do a design project on. It can be any play so all suggestions are welcome.
Keep the suggestions coming. Inspiration is always welcome!
When I was in my last year of high school, we read a lot of plays by Tennesee Williams. I think my fav was The Glass Menagerie.
Also loved The Importance of Being Earnest.
Oh, I love "Much Ado About Nothing" It is my "all time" favorite play of "all time."
And "Hamlet."
Oooh! More good suggestions. Thank you!
Sadly, I haven't read or seen The Glass Menagerie But I've been meaning t read it for some time.
I, too, love The Importance of Being Earnest. It's such a great play as is Hamlet. Much Ado... is soooo funny!
My favourite Shakespeare is Measure for Measure. Shakespeare really is a master.
Now I guess I have to choose one...
Twelve Angry Men. I think it would work as a play.
The Caucasian Chalk Circle, by Bertoldt Brecht, which I have a soft spot for because I played violin in the band for it.
