When the dog bites
when the bee stings
when I'm feeling
sad
I simply
remember my favourite things
and then I don't feel
so bad

These are a few of my favourite things:

The Art of Tea. Ever since I first bought and tasted this tea at Salamanca Markets in Tasmania I have not been able to drink any other without feeling it is terribly inferior. I have become such a tea snob that now I will only drink this tea and have to have it shipped up to me by the kilo every month. I love it! I cannot live without it!

Tip Top 9 Grain + Pumpkin Seeds Bread! Yum!

Hammocks

& books.

Especially books in hammocks...with a cup of Earl Grey Rooibos from the Art of Tea.

The smell of rain, the feel of rain, the coolness of rain after a hot day.

Words. I love words.

and pictures

and poetry

and cats

and many many more things but right now I love sleep too much to tell you about them.

What are some of your favourite things?

Now I want a cup of Roobios tea and a good book and a hammock. Of course, my hammock would be snowcovered and my hands would get frozen reading....
Let's see - my favorite things? Well, one of them is my seven-year-old daughter skipping around the house SINGING My Favorite Things, since she saw the live version of the Sound of Music last week and loved it. That's pretty sweet.

I love being bounced awake by Ivy, my dog, who jumps up on the bed and starts kissing and wagging and joyously rolling all over me. It's fun to giggle first thing in the morning!

Usually I am the first one up and I head straight to the coffee pot, so she rarely gets to do her morning dance, but I was sleepy this morning and didn't want to get up.

I'm glad I did though, because I got to see another favorite thing--the sunrise. It was deep red and hot pink this morning. Gorgeous!

The relationships is in my life (family and friends), a warm cozy fire on a cold day, God's Word, and even the very movie that song came from.

Just a few of my favorite things... :-)

Oh I love a lot of the same things you do - especially that wonderful hammock. Up here, in the Maritime province, we MUST drink King Cole tea - no other brand will do -they are all too weak. Books and words - words and books - luv 'em.

and the ocean of course and my island.

They are all great favourite things!

Beck, I love that your daughter can't stop singing the song. A live version of the Sound of Music has to be good.

Kim, Ooooh! Sunrises, coffee, and pets are so great!

Momrn2, yes, yes, yes & yes. I agree. You could even put them all together...though maybe it would be hard to read the Bible while watching the Sound of Music. They could all fit into a really good day though!

Weak tea is the worst! It is one of my least favourite things. I am glad you like your tea strong, Island Sparrow. I do too.

The ocean is so wonderful! Good choice. I am sure PEI is amazing too. One day I may get to visit. Till then, please enjoy it for me and keep posting gorgeous photos!

I must admit that the boys and I also sang that song in the wall tent on our recent hunting trip.

In any case, one of my favorite things is caffeine, and another is beer, and another is pets, and another is nice leather shoes, and another is hour-long showers in hotels.

That should be enough to fill a verse of the song.

Books I can't put down. Traveling to places where I marvel at God's creation. A strong cup of coffee. a hearty meal and fellowship with friends. Grandkid hugs. Hot showers. Good hikes. Art I create or view. Drawing closer to God. So much more than I stated.

Andrew, I would like to see you and the boys sitting in your smoky tent wrapped in sheets singing songs from the Sound of Music. What a lovely image. It would be even better if you were to write your own lyrics to the song containing all your very own favourite things. Beautiful.

You do have some very nice favourite things. Leather shoes are great! As are long hot showers, pets and the occasional beer. Although I am more of a chardonnay girl myself I can apppreciate a good beer after a hot day. As for caffeine - absolutely!

Candy, I so know what you mean about when you say "so much more than I stated." My favourites list could last forever! I forgot to include nice pjs, music, friends, family, art...and on I could go.

Your favourite things are also great!

I love this list of favorite things!

I'm with Candy; there are so many that it is impossible to list them all!

This morning I experienced one of my favorite things; getting up long before dawn to put a fat turkey into the oven while the rest of the family is still asleep. I love the quiet of the house and the knowledge that there is a fellowship of women, all over the country, getting up early and beginning the Thanksgiving dance, preparing the meal and serving her guests. It is a wonderful thing! I wish you could be seated at our table!

Do you have a day set aside for Thanksgiving in Australia? If so, will you tell us about it?

NO, KIm, we do not celebrate Thanksgiving in Australia. I would love to sit at your Thanksgiving table and celebrate with you though! How fun would that be? I'd cook something yummy for us to eat too and thus would join the dance. Have a great day with your family!

The "no" is not meant to be all in caps. Oops. It looks rather offensively emphatic. Sorry.
