Today in church we sang this song:

BEFORE THE THRONE OF GOD ABOVE

Before the throne of God above,
I have a strong and perfect plea,

A great High Priest whose name is “Love,”
Who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on His hands,
My name is written on His heart;
I know that while in heav’n He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart.
No tongue can bid me thence depart.

When Satan tempts me to despair,
And tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end of all my sin.
Because the sinless Savior died,
My sinful soul is counted free;
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me.
To look on Him and pardon me.

Behold Him there! the risen Lamb,
My perfect, spotless Righteousness,
The great unchangeable I AM,
The King of glory and of grace!
One with Himself I cannot die,
My soul is purchased by His blood;
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ my Savior and my God
With Christ my Savior and my God.

I absolutely love it.

This SonicFlood version, is the version I love the best. It's great to play and sing!

I love the lyrics to this hymn. They are so powerful and encouraging. I am always reminded of the passages, Romans 8 in particular, that tell us that Jesus is the only one who has the power to condemn us, yet he paid the price for our rebellion, knows the penalty has been satisfied, and thus has the power to pardon as well. It is so amazing! If he who condemns pardons what have we to fear? and how can anything, or anyone else challenge this? They can't. It's great. This hymn reminds me of that.

This is one of my favourites as well - I love the Stoneleigh Band version - I heard them do it live. I especially love vs. 2

I haven't heard that version. I'll have to google it. Verse two is great, so is verse three, but my favourite is verse one. The only thing I don't like about this song is that it is too short! There should be at least another fifty-seven verses, well, at least two more.
