The names of 72 bands are depicted in this picture (click picture to enlarge). I wonder if we could list them all?
To start us off I see:
1) Smashing Pumpkins
2)Green Day
3) Garbage
4) Guns'n'Roses
How many can you see?
Make a list in the comments and we'll see if we can get all 72. There is no way I could get them all on my own so I definately need your help.
UPDATE: Christopher has advised that there is another site on which you may view the picture above in an extended, or wide, version. As this may help us to solve the remaining band titles, it is most necessary that you follow this link to the complete picture. It even comes with a magnifying glass! The game continues. Play on! It certainly reveals more, like, for example, the inclusion of The Pet Shop Boys. There is much more we have not yet seen. Christoper also knows where the answers lie but I am not sure we are ready to give up yet. What do you think?
Oh!UPDATE #2: There are 74 bands to identify.
40 Comments:
5) Led Zeppelin
6. U2
7. The Eagles
I'm so excited! This looks like so much fun. (If people click on the picture they can see it full size.)
I guess you already said that last part. In my extreme excitement I missed that.
Queen
Prince
Matchbox 20
The Spoons
B 52's

phish
Rolling Stones
Alice in Chains
Madonna

Velvet Revolver

The Cars
(Tom just said, we'll get all 72!--no, we'll get a hundred!)
Cowboy junkies
Crowded House

Red Hot Chili Peppers
I think we're done.
That was fun!
Oh! Don't give up now!
40) Blur
(Jake is going to copy it and enlarge it so he can keep working on it!)
'Night, MissM!
Rob Zombie or the Zombies
(I know I said I was going to bed, but I saw that one when I was copying it for Jake!)
Yay! I knew you couldn't give up. Goodnight, Kim. Let us know what else your team comes up with.
I'm impressed. You folks really know your bands.I am looking for some beatles but I'm not sure they are there. I think I'm pretty pathetic when it comes to band names and none of my sons are around to help...
I think the scissors are a Pink Floyd reference, in which case that makes 42.
I was thinking the scissors were a reference to the Scissor Sisters but was not sure. There are a lot of the images I am not sure to call one way or another.
I don't think there's any rush Island Sparrow. It may take a while to get the full 72, that is unless Kim & co have another go. They were on fire!
Mornin' MissM,
Jake left me a list on my keyboard. Found it when I got up this morning.
The Police
The White Stripes
The Doors
The Postal Service
T-Rex (I am not convinced of this one--that dinosaurish thing doesn't look like a T-Rex to me)
Counting Crows
Is there a group called Running with Scissors?
I think I will send this to my daughter.
My sons think that's the Scissor Sisters.
Here are some more they noticed:
Black Flag
BeeGees
Garbage
Green Day
Dinosour Junior
Dinosaur Junior! Never heard of it!
Didn't think T-Rex was right.
Rebecca, where are the BeeGees? I can't find them.
The BeeGees are the graffiti on the building below the 2 Us for U2.
The zombit is White Zombie, of so I'm told.
We can't decided if those bags in front of the produce stand are Black Eyed Peas.
The zombit is White Zombie, of so I'm told.
Someone should learn to preview her comments:
The zombie is White Zombie, or so I'm told.
Jewel
The Choir
Good morning all. Gee you've done well while I was asleep. Nice work.
I was wondering what that baby Stegosaurus was doing. It looks too little to cross the road without its mother, so Dinosaur Junior now makes heaps of sense.
I think we're up to 53, I'm including The Blackeyed Peas 'cause that sounds good to me. Having said 53 please feel free to count them up for yourself because I'm not very good with numbers [insert self-deprecating hair flick here].
20 to go!
I'm going back to look again.
Could it be
Deep Purple (on the building?)
Iron Maiden (on the pedestrian crossing?)
Doese anyone recognise the city? Could it be Chicago?
Kim you are just amazing!! You got so many!
This was fun.
DEEP PURPLE!
That one bugged us because we knew it had to be something!
White Zombie. That makes sense.
This has been so much fun!
Do we have 16 to go?
What band do you think the Spathophyllum in the bottom corner refers to?
The Pixies
The Beach Boys
Talking Heads
Rolling Stones
Lemonheads
Madonna
Dead Kennedys
The Cars
Radiohead
Seal
Black Crows
Matchbox 20
Prince
Red Hot Chili Pepers
..... and that's all for now. Sorry if someone's already found some!
Machine Gun Fellatio
And yes, the pink walking scissors are the Scissor Sisters.
Oh yeah, right you are and welcome too Borg. Nice to meet you. I had a look at your Graphicu Novella blog, you are very talented. I especially like your Field Guide to Marriageable Christian Guys. Very funny.
Nice to "meet" you too, Missmellifluous. SOrry for not introducing myself. I got here via John Dekker's blog.
And thank you for the compliments. Glad you enjoyed the field guide. ;)
It appears that there is a wider aspect ratio picture in which you can see more things. You can find it here. http://www.heavy.com/heavy.php?channel=virginGame
There is also a verification process for your picks. But to show you where that is may ruin the guessing since there is also answers on the site where I found it.
Hi Christopher,
Ah! Great thank you. I will check out the wider view. The game continues!
Thanks to your link, Christopher, I see
The Pet Shop Boys
Yay!
There is also one that is, um, sort of nasty. Look carefully at what the queen in front is holding - the band name is Revolving.... bad word that starts with c and ends with k. So there is another one.
Okay, I know all the answers, but I cheated. Christopher gave me the answer key.
Did we go well?
Yes, you went well. There are, however, a few missed ones so obvious that you'll probably go Doh! like I did.
You inspired me to look again and when I did I found:
CAKE
Thanks for playing, Rebecca, I had heaps of fun!
