Tonight I cried listening to this song. For me it is a prayer.

Indeed. I love this - so much better in this format than on the album. At Twickenham (London) the last line became "Take this city and keep it safe."

Number 4 on my list here - though probably higher if I'm in the right mood.

See also here.

"In Christ Alone" is good as well. Do you know "There is a day"? Or "There is a higher throne"? Two of my favourite Christian songs at the moment.

Missy M. I have never heard this song before. I really enjoyed this. Thanks. Yeah...it is a prayer isn't it.

I didn't realise you were such a fan, Paul (probably - maybe liz). I like your list. Nice.

Thanks for listening, Candy. It is a great song. I love it and I'm glad you liked it too!

Oh! I don't know those songs you mentioned, Paul. Is there somewhere I can hear them? I do like the lyrics.

I used to be a fan of their early music. Haven't heard them much the past few years. I think I stopped listening to them when they did their K-Mart tour and were all pop. I think it was a K-Mart tour...can't remember.

Popmart, it was. That was quite work, and a lot harder to discern the Christian content of what they were doing. "How to Dismantle and Atomic Bomb" and "All that you can't leave behind" are much more accessible.

I can't find free copies of those songs to listen to, MM, but the Phatfish one is on their album called "Heavenbound", and "There is a higher throne" features on several "best of worship" albums - which can probably also be bought track by track on iTunes, or something.

U2 lost me for a while when they did their Zooropa, Achtung Baby thing. I went alternate and they went pop thus we parted ways.

Achtung was thoroughly painful and I could identify with this at the time which is why I think I didn't like it. It reminded me of pain instead of making me forget.

I remember living in community and selling all my U2 cds for a little bit of cash needed to get me home. The guy I sold them to thought I was stupid for selling an entire U2 collection so cheaply. I despised him for buying them so cheaply but I just wanted to go home. I guess Achtung Baby both reflected my pain and provided a way out of it...to some extent.
