time: that which my computer devours

They: Other, a group apart from us. This word disturbs me greatly especially when it is
written with a capital T. They is so exclusive. I don't like 'They'.

done: my favourite word after days, weeks, even years of research, writing and rehearsing. This word makes me feel both relief and angst: "It's done! Wahoo!" & "Gasp! What if I haven't done enough, or done it right?"
"Let it go. It's done."

attention: a right foot stamping the ground

And there we have my word meme for Kim. Now I am
to tag four people I would like to play. I tag Kim, Rebecca, Andrew, & momrn2. These are your words:

ethereal

jubilate

cossie

feign

How hard to only choose four words!

Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to tell us what these words mean to you.

Sure, I'll do the meme. It looks like fun. I won't be able to do it until after tomorrow, though. Youngest son has a school holiday and the weather's fine, so we are planning an outing.

Thank you!

I laughed at the first one and the third one, and the fourth one! And I know what you mean about the first one; it can sound so, well, almost accusatory.

I'd love to know how you came up with your words! I'd need a dictionary for cossie; in fact, I'm off to see what that means!

that should read "I know what you mean about the second one." That's what I get for waking from a short couch nap and trying to type right away! : )

Yay! Rebecca! Thanks for joining in. This is like playing the dictionary game only online.

I knew you meant second, Kim. Glad I'm not the only one who feels a little foggy after a nap.

The words kind of flooded to me. I love the word etherial. It's one of my favourites. Then I started thinking of a funny poem for some reason - completely random - and jubilate became the next word. Next, I thought we needed an Australian word to see what it would mean to people outside Australia, therefore, cossie - I wonder if it is in your dictionary - and finally, I opened the dictionary randomly and there was 'feign.' Thus my word choosing methods are revealed.

There are so many words I left out! That was a fun game, Kim. I can't wait to see what my tagged people come up with.

I'll just play on your blog.

Ethereal: Mist and sun rays through storm clouds.

Jubilate: Strong voices in unison singing about the glory of God.

cossie: Shall we have a warm cossie after our walk? (just guessing) :)

feign: Duck! Oh sorry. I thought Dan Phillips was going to use that sword.

Candy! I am so glad you played and spelt ethereal correctly even after I had spelt it wrong twice! Do you know I had bad dreams last night about spelling ethereal incorrectly! It was awful.

I love your responses. Especially, Shall we have a warm cossie after our walk? That is great. I love that you had a guess. I will reveal the true meaning of the word after people have played. Let's just say your response made me giggle.

You do paint a very ethereal image. I really like that.

I agree with your jubilate. ANd your feign is funny! Thanks for playing. It's such a fun game.

Have you ever played the dictionary game?

Kipling wrote a great poem on the concept of "They":

Father and Mother, and Me,
Sister and Auntie say
All the people like us are We,
And every one else is They.
And They live over the sea,
While We live over the way,
But - would you believe it? -They look upon We
As only a sort of They!

That is a great poem, John. Sadly, it reflects exactly what I mean about the use of the wordThey and although the poem is communicated through such an innocent tone, it still effectively captures the barbarity associated with labelling people as Other - something we do all the time. I may have to remember this one for school.

Thank you for drawing my attention to the poem. I had not read it before.
